This is particularly helpful for children, who can otherwise be very resistant and require mild sedation, adding 6-8 hours to recovery time. Stress to children is further reduced by performing their own 'scans' first. They choose a toy to put into a miniature MRI device, to see whether it is sick and they see what the surgeons see.
With modern equipment, 6 delivery rooms, neonatal, child and adult intensive care units, an adult increased care and positive pressure unit, scientific staff of Mitera are fully alerted to respond to any need that might occur on a 24/7 basis.
It also offers a 1.0 Tesla open MRI unit, which offers clear medical advantages in many cases. It also offers greater patient comfort and the new Ambient Experience' facilty reduces patient stress.

Intensive Care
Mitera Special Units offer comprehensive hospitalisation services for children and adults. These include adult, paediatric and neonatal intensive care and a Positive Pressure Unit, unique in Greece, for patients with blood diseases or with immunosuppressions and vulnerable to infections.
