This is particularly helpful for children, who can otherwise be very resistant and require mild sedation, adding 6-8 hours to recovery time.  Stress to children is further reduced by performing their own 'scans' first.  They choose a toy to put into a miniature MRI device, to see whether it is sick and they see what the surgeons see.
